State Representative Ty Mathews is serving his first term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 83rd Ohio House District, which includes Hancock, Hardin and northern Logan counties. In addition to serving as Vice Chair of the House Veterans and Military Development Committee, Mathews serves on the Development, Technology and Innovation, and Natural Resources committees.

Ohio’s Defense Future: Building the Arsenal of Innovation

Representative Ty Mathews will provide a “State of Ohio Defense and Technology” address, highlighting Ohio’s leadership in national defense, aerospace, and emerging technologies. The speech will focus on the General Assembly’s efforts to strengthen Ohio’s defense industrial base through House Bill 291 and House Bill 292, legislation designed to expand defense innovation, attract investment, and reinforce partnerships with military installations such as Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He will discuss how strategic investments in research, advanced manufacturing, autonomous systems, and workforce development are positioning Ohio to remain a national leader in defense and technology. Finally, Representative Mathews will outline his vision for ensuring Ohio continues to be the premier destination for military innovation, economic growth, and national security in the decades ahead.
